課程概述

The course is aimed to familiarize students with English writing conventions. The course starts with the paragraph structure, then moves on to the essay structure, and concludes with the five writing genres as well as corresponding rhetorics in English academic writing. There will also be a grammar session on-line every week. 

課程目標
At the end of this course, students are expected to have a better understanding of
*grammar & vocabulary;
*sentential structures & strategies;
*paragraph structure & strategies;
*discoursal structure & strategies;
*style and register;
*peer review skills;
*pre-writing preparations and post-writing editing skills.

Students taking this course are expected to
*take weekly quizzes
*preview the grammar session on-line
*submit writing assignments both alone and in groups
*paricipate in class discussion actively
*join the final exam in the 16th week
